My First Attempt at Nail Art!

Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.  Mine was pretty relaxing.  I just watched a lot of TV and spent some quality time with my wonderful boyfriend.

Today I want to share with you my first ever attempt at nail art.  It came out pretty decent! I got the inspiration from this YouTube video.  If you like nail art, you should check out this channel.  It has lots and lots of easy tutorials for all kinds of pretty designs.

The video I followed was for a Heart Leopard design.  I changed up the colors and didn’t use the heart.  I was drawn to this design because I like the way it’s only on part of your nails.  I’ll call this a Pink and Silver Leopard Gradient, for all intents and purposes.

My thumb nail came out the best, but I really love the design on all of my nails.   I wish I had used a darker pink so the silver didn’t steal the focus, but overall I’m very pleased.  I’ll definitely be doing more leopard designs in the future.  It’s so easy and very trendy right now.

I used OPI Don’t Burst My Bubble for the base color.  The leopard spots are Nicole by OPI Naturally and they’re outlined in OPI I Haven’t the Foggiest.  I applied one coat of Seche Vite top coat to finish up the look.

For step by step instructions, watch the video by Cute Polish (linked above).

So what do you think of this design? Will you try it? Let me know in the comments!

OPI San Francisco Collection Swatches

Hi everyone! I hope you guys have had a great week and are getting ready for the weekend.  Today I want to share three beautiful polishes from the OPI San Francisco collection with you.  Normally when a new OPI collection comes out, I’m all over it.  There was something way too familiar about this collection though.  Most of the colors look like stuff OPI has put out within the last year with their Germany, Skyfall and Euro Centrale collections.  The three polishes I’m sharing today are the only ones that were original enough for me to buy.

First is a stunning metallic silver called I Haven’t the Foggiest.  I used two coats of polish to cover minor imperfections, but the formula is so wonderful that you could get away with one coat.

I Haven’t the Foggiest is extremely shiny and reflective.  I had to take a picture with flash to show off how shiny it is.  The second picture with no flash still does it justice.

Next we have Peace, Love and OPI.  This color is gorgeous! It’s a color-shifting polish that goes from gray to purple to sage.  My camera didn’t quite do it justice, but the shifting adds a lot of interest.  This is a perfect color for fall and just overall very cool.  The swatches below are with two coats of polish, which you really need to build up the color.

Finally we have one of the Liquid Sand colors, Alcatraz Rocks! This polish is absolutely beautiful, and one of my favorite Liquid Sand colors OPI has debuted.  It’s a deep purple, almost blue color with multicolored glitter.  Of course like all other Liquid Sand polishes, this dries to a matte textured finish.  You need two coats to get the optimal color and texture and no top coat.  Alcatraz Rocks! is my favorite polish from the San Francisco collection.

In honor of this collection, I want to share some pictures of me in San Francisco.  These were taken when I visited my uncle for spring break in 2007.  I really love San Francisco and I think it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited.

Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream

Hello everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.  Tomorrow is Labor Day so I have a long weekend.  This is exactly what I need so I can relax.  These past couple of weeks have been crazy.  I started my new part time position with BB&T and then I had to undergo treatment for an infection I got from a bad pedicure.  I’m still trying to get my toes healed but it’s been a slow process.  Hopefully the extra day off will give my feet some rest.

Today I want to talk about a new favorite product of mine: Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream.  Remember that epic swatch-fest I talked about in the last entry?  Well this product was a huge help in between swatches and definitely afterwards.  My cuticles were dry and screaming for some relief, so I used this awesome product.

This product is simply amazing.  You just rub a little into your cuticles and massage some into your nails for instant relief.  I’ve been using this stuff for about 3 weeks now and my fingers don’t split and my cuticles look healthier overall.  A little goes along way, and the formula doesn’t leave fingers greasy.  Did I mention how yummy it smells too? The scent reminds me of lemon meringue pie, but it’s not overpowering.  You should grab this product immediately if you do your nails a lot, or if you’re just looking for a new cuticle care product.  I highly recommend it.

You can purchase Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream from Burt’s Bees or from major drug stores and Target.

Have you tried, or would you like to try this product? Let me know in the comments!
